Police Probe Two Viral Cases Involving School Kids

3247193.jpg Two recent viral clips have once again highlighted how a moment of carelessness can place children in danger and the consequences could easily turn tragic.

In Seri Kembangan, a video showed a young boy sprinting after his mother’s car outside a primary school. The 37-year-old mother had picked up her twins but only realised one child was missing after making a U-turn.

"The mother stopped as soon as she noticed her son chasing from behind", says Serdang police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad.

The clip, widely shared on Facebook, drew anger and concern, with many questioning how such an oversight could happen. Fb: Siakap Keli.

Police later confirmed the mother herself lodged a report, and the case is now being investigated under multiple laws, including the Child Act 2001.

Meanwhile in Kajang, another clip showed a 59-year-old school van driver casually dropping off and picking up children from a moving vehicle.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed his arrest under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"If convicted, he faces up to five years’ jail and a RM15,000 fine," he added. Both cases are stark reminders of how negligence, whether by parents, guardians, or drivers entrusted with children, can put young lives at risk.  These are not minor mistakes; they are lapses that could end in tragedy.

We have seen it before. Children left in hot cars for hours, or forgotten in school vans and never making it home.

Each case should have been a lesson, yet carelessness continues. Safety must always come first. Negligence is not just a lapse. It is a danger, and too often, children are the ones who pay the price.
