MMM Welcomes Takashi Sakamaki As New CEO
Succeeding Shinya Ikeda as CEO at Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is Takashi Sakamaki.

Earlier today, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) announced via press release that Shinya Ikeda has stepped down as its CEO – he has led the firm since his appointment in Oct 2021. Succeeding him effective today in said role is Takashi Sakamaki.
Under Ikeda’s direction, MMM launched the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton and introduced the facelifted Xpander crossover MPV offerings, the latter standing as the best-selling non-national MPV in the country with over 50,000 units shifted since its initial 2020 launch.
The Triton pick-up truck, on the other hand, fared far better with over 120,000 units shifted since its 2006 launch. These, as the firm puts it, reflects Mitsubishi’s presence in the market and their focus on vehicles designed for Malaysian drivers.

According to MMM, new CEO Takashi Sakamaki brings a wealth of experience spanning over two decades. He had previously helmed various roles and duties with Mitsubishi Corporation where he also contributed significantly to the brand’s global growth.
His past roles involved business development, managing CBU exports, as well as expanding OEM supply with global automakers.
Sakamaki brings a wealth of experience spanning over two decades to the role as he succeeds Ikeda.

“It is an honour to take on the leadership of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia at such a dynamic time for the automotive industry. With Mitsubishi Motors’ strong heritage in Malaysia and the dedication of our talented team, I am confident we are well-positioned to navigate emerging challenges and seize new opportunities,” expressed Sakamaki via the press release mentioned.
The exec continued by stressing MMM’s commitment towards delivering “a fulfilling mobility lifestyle that awakens the adventurous spirit, all built on the foundation of reliable technology and peace of mind.”

“I look forward to continuing to provide exceptional value and quality to every Malaysian driver," added Sakamaki further via the same statement.
Sakamaki will now oversee MMM’s current network comprised of 63 showrooms and 63 service centres nationwide. Included here are no less than 30 Body & Repair (B&P) centres, plus 16 outlets spanning both Sabah and Sarawak states.
