Uprated 489 HP Zeekr X Revealed in China — Will Malaysia Get It?
-full_normal.jpg)
Zeekr has only just set foot in Malaysia with the launch of the Zeekr X, but already the brand’s compact EV hatch is seeing an update in its home market.
The refreshed Zeekr X, revealed through filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), swaps its existing 200 kW rear motor for a more powerful 250 kW unit, lifting output from 268 hp to 335 hp.

This upgrade however doesn’t bring any exterior or design changes. Dimensions remain identical at 4,450 mm long, 1,836 mm wide and 1,572 mm tall, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Even the tyre options and body styling in all angles remain unchanged.
What has shifted is the performance, with the new rear wheel drive model promising sharper acceleration while the all-wheel-drive variant output climbing from a combined 422 hp to 489 hp thanks to the uprated rear e-motor.

Malaysia, of course, has only just recently received the “outgoing” version. Local buyers can pick between the Zeekr X Premium with a single 268 hp motor or the Flagship AWD with 422 hp.
Both use a 66 kWh battery with 150 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10–80% recharge in about 30 minutes. Prices are set at RM155,800 for the Premium and RM172,800 for the Flagship.

The big question now is whether Zeekr Malaysia will eventually offer these uprated powertrains. With Zeekr’s global ambitions and the industry trend of streamlining line-ups, there’s every chance the stronger versions could arrive once current allocations are cleared, or perhaps when local CKD operations kick off next year.
For Malaysian buyers, the Zeekr X is already one of the quickest EVs in its class, but the prospect of an even sharper, quicker hot hatch could be just around the corner. The real question is will it actually be offered here and are buyers willing to wait for it?
