Phased Rollout for Driver Data System - Loke
The Transport Ministry will roll out the Driver Data System under the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) in stages, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He said the project is now in its early phase, focusing on system specifications, securing funds, and the tender process to appoint a qualified service provider.

"At this stage, the main focus is on preparing the technical specifications, applying for development allocations, and managing the tender process to appoint a qualified service provider
"Once these processes are completed, the appointment and implementation will take place soon," he said in a written reply in Parliament.
The system will later be integrated with key agencies including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).
While awaiting full implementation, JPJ has been instructed to manually compile and share summons data with APAD.

"As announced on October 14, this data-sharing initiative will support MOT’s new policy to suspend or revoke vehicle permits or operator licences of companies repeatedly caught for overloading offences," Loke stressed.
The minister further stated that the move aims to stop long-standing unsafe practices in the transport sector.
"This action aims to curb a practice that has persisted for decades, where operators do not take road safety seriously and view summonses as just a small business cost compared to the profits from overloading," he added.

The new system, once in place, is expected to help the ministry and enforcement agencies take firmer action against repeat offenders.
