2026 Jeep Recon Bows As A 650 hp EV Off-Roader With Removeable Doors

Though revealed digitally back in 2022, the new and all-electric (EV) Jeep Recon has finally been made a reality only now. Set to enter production early next year, North American specifications and prices were revealed first earlier today.

Whilst not the Stellantis-owned American brand’s first EV, it is however its first of such to earn ‘Trail Rated’ status – it’s a proper off-roader. One key feature for which – besides its overall build as one – includes removeable doors like the Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Recon stands as the marque's first EV to receive 'Trail Rated' status, which signals that it is a proper off-roader ready to tackle terrains.

Underneath, the Jeep Recon shares the same STLA Large unibody platform as the Wagoneer S – the brand’s first global EV SUV offering. Housed in said base are both a 400-volt electrical architecture and a 100.5 kWh NMC-type battery pack.

Notably, the latter is encased within a “full suite of sturdy, high-strength steel underbody shields.” Besides that, Jeep also touts the pack promising up to 250 miles (402 KM) on a full charge, and it accepts DC fast-charging to enable 5-80% re-charges in 28 minutes.

Underneath, the Jeep Recon underpins the STLA Large unibody platform to house a 400-volt architecture, massive 100.5 kWh NMC battery pack, as well as a a pair of powerful e-motors.

Said pack juices a pair of e-motors – one over each axle – outputting a combined 650 hp and 840 Nm outputs. Adding to the Recon’s off-road chops further are the 11:1 and 15:1 final drive ratios primed in the front and rear e-motor respectively.

Besides a claimed 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint time of 3.6 secs in Sport mode, Jeep adds that the Recon’s throttle pedal was tailored “to deliver torque in a controlled and precise manner for a satisfying off-road driving experience.”

JeepReconMoab-(8).jpgJeepReconMoab-(16).jpg
In Moab guise, the Recon is beefed up with 33-inch off-road tyres plus an added Rock drive mode and a special anti-glare bonnet graphic.

Additionally, the Recon is brimmed with electronically locking rear diff plus a front axle that automatically disconnects. The latter allows the Recon to default to rear-wheel-drive (RWD) on the road and use less energy.

As for its suspension, the Jeep Recon adopts the combination of short-long arm front and integral link rear assemblies as standard. In rugged Moab trim, the Recon is beefed up with 33-inch off-road tyres plus an additional Rock drive mode too.

Besides the doors, both the rear quarter and tailgate glasses are also removeable, with Jeep touting all being easily done without tools.

Visually, the Moab guise even rocks a special anti-glare bonnet graphic, and it can be specified with side rock rails. That aside, other key off-road bits include a low-speed Selec-Speed Control suite, as well as a dedicated Trails Offroad app.

Returning to the Wrangler-styled removeable doors, the rear quarter glass and tailgate glass are also removeable, all without using tools. Completing the off-road looks and bits too is the presence of a full-sized spare tyre mounted on the tailgate.

On board, the Recon's cabin somewhat mirrors the Wrangler and is primed with massive digital displays.

Inside, the cabin also boast some resemblance with the Wrangler model noted thanks to rugged touches and chunky passenger grab handle. Primed in the dash is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel plus an equally mammoth 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The latter is also paired with an Alpine-branded audio suite featuring speakers located beneath the seats. Jeep adds it primed “scuff-resistant vortex-textured services” and a series of “trail-ready” materials lining the cabin to emphasise the Recon’s durability.

JeepReconMoab-(17).jpgJeepReconMoab-(18).jpgJeepReconMoab-(24).jpg
Also unique to the Moab guise is a 'Joshua Tree' tan interior motif.

Opt for the beefed up Moab guise and the cabin gets decked out with a unique ‘Joshua Tree’ tan interior motif too. Otherwise, this is a large 4x4 offering a massive 1,866-litre boot space with the second-row seats folded plus an 85-litre frunk.

For North America, the new 2026 Jeep Recon will be built in Toluca, Mexico and see prices start from US$65,000 (RM269,620), thus making only marginally cheaper than the Wagoneer S.

Critically, right-hand-drive (RHD) versions are being planned for the UK and Australia, though entry into key Asian markets remains uncertain still at this point.
