Polestar Plans to Launch Four New Models by 2028, Polestar 4 Estate Teased

Polestar is planning to launch four new models by 2028, including the teased estate version of the Polestar 4.
Despite the recent financial turmoil, Sino-Swedish marque Polestar is soldiering on with the announcement of a new product expansion strategy. The Geely-owned EV brand has four new EVs coming their way before 2028, and one of them will be an estate wagon version of its best-seller, the Polestar 4.

We’ll start with the aforementioned Polestar 4, where the new version will ditch the current model’s sporty coupe-like bodystyle for a more practical, long-roofed estate body. From the single teaser image published by Polestar, we can see that the new 4 wagon gets a more upright tailgate design with full-width LED taillights, roof rails, and an actual rear windscreen.
Polestar’s aim with the new 4 estate is to attract a “wider customer base," with CEO Michael Lohscheller saying that the new version “combines the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV with the dynamic performance that is Polestar." In other words, we can expect the 4 estate to underpin the same underpinnings as the current Polestar 4 coupe but with a more practical cabin.
Fortunately, it won’t be long before we get to see the new Polestar 4 estate in its full form, as the EV wagon is slated to debut sometime later in Q4 this year.

Next in line is the new, second-gen Polestar 2 liftback, which will debut later in early 2027. Unfortunately, not much can be derived from the blurry teaser image published by Polestar, except that the new 2 may ditch the ongoing model’s crossover-ish bodystyle for a sportier, lower-sitting liftback saloon.
More importantly, the next-gen Polestar 2 will stick closer to the brand’s identity by ditching its Volvo-esque LED headlights for the new split design. That said, we still need to wait until 2027 to see the entirety of this new liftback saloon.

The revamped lineup continues with the Polestar 7, which is described as a new contender in Europe’s compact premium SUV segment that offers a “progressive performance-driven car” at “a very attractive price point." Not many details were shared regarding the 7, but this new EV SUV will be built at Volvo’s production facility in Slovakia, sharing many similar parts with its full-fledged Swedish cousins.

The last of the four-car lineup will be the Polestar 5, which was unveiled back in 2025 as the brand’s halo grand tourer. European deliveries for the new 5 are slated to begin in summer 2026, although there is no mention of its availability beyond the Old Continent’s borders.

The halo GT rides on a bespoke lightweight platform made from bonded aluminium, with power being provided by a dual-motor AWD setup capable of delivering up to 872 hp (650 kW) in its top-spec Performance guise.

Polestar’s ambitious product lineup announcement comes after a mix of positive and negative performance for the Sino-Swedish marque. Despite posting its best-ever retail sales record last year with 60,119 units shifted (34% more than 2024), the automaker is still wrestling with deep financial losses.
