Dongfeng 007

The Dongfeng 007 is a five-seat electric fastback offered in Malaysia in two fully imported variants: the Premium RWD at RM169,888 and the Prime AWD at RM195,888. A current RM8,888 promotional rebate reduces the respective selling prices to RM161,000 and RM187,000 before registration and road-tax charges.

The Premium uses a single 200-KW rear motor and offers up to 650 KM of CLTC range, while the Prime combines two motors for 400 KW and all-wheel drive. Both receive a six-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year unlimited-mileage battery and drive-motor warranty.

The minimalist dashboard combines an 8.8-inch digital driver display with a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen. A patterned passenger-side panel and configurable ambient lighting add visual interest to the otherwise clean layout.

A tall centre console separates the front occupants and provides storage areas, smartphone holders and a 50-W wireless charging pad. Most vehicle functions are accessed through the touchscreen due to the limited number of physical controls. 

The slim 8.8-inch digital instrument display presents speed, battery level, remaining range and driver-assistance information. Its low-profile design allows the dashboard to remain visually uncluttered. 

Both variants receive dual-tone vegan-leather upholstery and ventilated front seats. The driver’s seat provides six-way powered adjustment, memory and a welcome function, while the front passenger receives four-way powered adjustment. 

The 2,915-MM wheelbase provides generous legroom for five occupants, while the mostly flat rear floor improves comfort for the centre passenger. The low fastback roofline may reduce headroom slightly for particularly tall rear occupants. 

The two-spoke multifunction steering wheel provides controls for media, calls, voice functions and driver-assistance systems. The local specification lists manual steering-wheel adjustment, while launch information indicates that reach adjustment is not provided. 

Storage is available within the centre console, glovebox and door pockets. The liftback design and folding rear seat allow the vehicle to accommodate larger items than a traditional sedan with a smaller boot opening. 

Cup holders are integrated into the tall centre-console area, together with spaces for smartphones and smaller personal items.

A 50-W wireless smartphone charger is fitted as standard. The 007 also supports Vehicle-to-Load operation for powering compatible external electrical equipment, although the official Malaysian specification does not state the exact number of cabin USB ports. 

Vegan-leather upholstery, dual-tone colour combinations, ambient lighting and the panoramic glass roof create a modern cabin atmosphere. Premium models receive a black-and-white interior, while the Prime is available with a white-and-grey combination.

The powered liftback opens to 452 litres of luggage capacity. Folding the rear seat expands the available cargo area to 1,026 litres, while a small front storage compartment provides additional space for charging accessories.

The Dongfeng 007 measures 4,880 MM long, 1,895 MM wide and 1,465 MM tall, supported by a 2,915-MM wheelbase. Kerb weight stands at 1,852 KG for the Premium and 1,979 KG for the Prime. 

Its low front end features a smooth grille-less fascia and split-lighting arrangement. Slim daytime-running lights and sequential indicators sit above the main LED headlamp units integrated into the outer bumper sections. 

The sweeping roofline ends in a liftback tailgate, giving the 007 a more practical opening than a conventional sedan. A fixed lip spoiler and sculpted lower bumper help provide a sportier rear profile. 

LED headlamps are paired with daytime-running lights, dynamic turn signals and a welcome-light animation. The slim upper lighting signature complements the low and wide front design. 

A full-width LED lighting strip spans the rear body, with internal graphics echoing the shape of the front daytime-running lights. The tail lamps emphasise the vehicle’s broad stance at night.

Power-retractable exterior mirrors are fitted across the range. Frameless side windows, flush pop-out door handles and a six-window glasshouse contribute to the 007’s streamlined fastback appearance. 

Disc brakes are fitted at the front and rear, supported by ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, stability control and regenerative braking. Painted brake calipers provide an additional sporting detail. 

The current Malaysian specification sheet lists 19-inch wheels with 235/45 R19 tyres. The multi-spoke design complements the 007’s low-slung profile, while direct tyre-pressure monitoring is standard. 

Standard active-safety equipment includes ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, electronic stability control, autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning and direct tyre-pressure monitoring. 

Six airbags are fitted, comprising dual front, front-side and full-length curtain airbags. The Dongfeng 007 has also achieved a five-star rating under China’s C-NCAP testing programme. 

Named drive modes are not detailed in the current Malaysian specification sheet. Powertrain and energy-recovery settings are managed through the vehicle’s central infotainment interface.

The 15.6-inch central touchscreen provides Bluetooth connectivity, vehicle settings and smartphone integration. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported through wired or wireless connections, depending on the connected device. 

Its Level 2 driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with braking, Rear Collision Warning and Door Opening Warning.

A 540-degree panoramic camera assists with parking and low-speed manoeuvres. Driver Monitoring System is reserved for the Prime variant. 

A 19-speaker WANOS surround-sound system is fitted across the range. Speakers integrated into the driver’s headrest can provide navigation, calls or selected audio information closer to the driver. 

The Premium uses a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 200 KW or 272 PS and 310 NM. The Prime adds a front motor, increasing combined output to 400 KW or 544 PS and 620 NM. 

Each electric motor operates through a single-speed reduction drive. Power is delivered immediately without conventional gear changes.

The Premium sends power exclusively to the rear wheels. The Prime uses Dongfeng’s Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system, with one electric motor powering each axle. 

The Premium accelerates from 0 to 100 KM/H in 5.8 seconds. The more powerful Prime completes the same sprint in 3.9 seconds.

Both variants use a 73.48-kWh LFP battery. The Premium offers up to 650 KM under CLTC testing, or approximately 530 KM under WLTP, while the Prime provides 565 KM CLTC or approximately 463 KM WLTP.

Charging supports up to 6.6 KW AC and 200 KW DC. A 30% to 80% DC charge takes approximately 16 minutes under suitable conditions, while 3.3-KW Vehicle-to-Load operation is also available.

Convenience equipment includes keyless vehicle access, powered front seats, seat ventilation, driver-seat memory, a powered liftback, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and wireless smartphone charging. 

Automatic air-conditioning is fitted with dedicated rear air vents. However, the system uses a single temperature zone rather than independent settings for the driver and front passenger. 

MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear arrangement provide a more sophisticated setup than a basic torsion-beam design. The long wheelbase should deliver stable highway behaviour, although the 19-inch wheels may transmit sharper imperfections into the cabin. 

The quiet electric drivetrain helps reduce engine noise and vibration during normal driving. However, the frameless windows and wide tyres may allow some wind and road noise at higher speeds, which would require an extended Malaysian road test to assess properly.

The Dongfeng 007 provides buyers with a clear choice between long-distance efficiency and high performance. The Premium combines rear-wheel drive, a useful estimated 530-KM WLTP range and generous standard equipment, while the Prime delivers 544 PS, all-wheel drive and 3.9-second acceleration.

Its fast charging, spacious cabin, 19-speaker sound system and comprehensive driver-assistance package strengthen its value proposition. However, the slow 6.6-KW AC charging rate, single-zone climate control, limited steering adjustment and one-piece folding rear seat are unusual compromises at this price.
