Mercedes-Benz EQS 450

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV is the entry point to the flagship EQS SUV range in Malaysia, offering the same three-row luxury packaging as the more powerful EQS 580 but with greater driving range.

It uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 265 KW (355 HP) and 800 NM, paired with a large 118 KWH NMC battery. Maximum range reaches 673 KM WLTP, while 0-100 KM/H takes 6.1 seconds.

The EQS 450 4MATIC SUV continues into 2026 at RM625,888 on-the-road without insurance.

The dashboard is dominated by Mercedes-Benz's 56-INCH MBUX Hyperscreen, integrating three displays beneath one continuous curved glass panel.

The Electric Art interior complements the technology with open-pore wood, aluminium-pattern trim and extensive 64-colour Active Ambient Lighting.

A high-rising centre console separates the front occupants and incorporates enclosed storage areas and connectivity functions.

Open-pore brown magnolia wood with aluminium Mercedes-Benz pattern detailing gives the console a more luxurious finish.

The driver's portion of the MBUX Hyperscreen consists of a 12.3-INCH fully digital instrument display.

It is complemented by an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display with a large projected viewing area for navigation, speed and assistance information.

The cabin features Black/Balao Brown Nappa leather upholstery with Comfort Seats in the first and second rows.

Electric adjustment, memory and lumbar functions are provided, while the second row folds in a 40:20:40 split and incorporates EASY-ENTRY access to the two-seat third row.

The Malaysian EQS 450 is configured as a seven-seater in a 2+3+2 arrangement.

Its 3,210 MM wheelbase provides generous accommodation across all three rows, while the electrically adjustable second row can slide fore and aft to prioritise either passenger or luggage space.

A three-spoke multifunction steering wheel is wrapped in Nappa leather and finished with metallic detailing.

Controls provide access to infotainment, driver information and assistance systems, while the steering column features powered tilt and telescopic adjustment.

Interior storage includes a large glove compartment, door pockets, seatback compartments and multiple areas within and beneath the centre console.

Additional luggage-management equipment is included through the Load Compartment Package.

A total of six flexible cup holders are distributed throughout the three-row cabin.

Two are provided for each seating row, alongside additional bottle storage within the doors.

Multiple USB connections are provided through the USB Package Plus, together with 12 V power sockets at the front and within the luggage compartment.

Wireless smartphone charging is also provided for compatible devices.

The Electric Art interior combines Black/Balao Brown leather surfaces with brown open-pore magnolia wood and aluminium-pattern detailing.

Soft-touch materials, metallic air vents, Active Ambient Lighting and extensive leather trim give the cabin the flagship finish expected of an EQS.

With all seven seats in use, luggage capacity stands at 195 L.

Folding the third row increases capacity to 800 L, while lowering both the second and third rows expands the cargo area to a maximum 2,020 L.

The EQS 450 4MATIC SUV measures 5,125 MM long, 1,959 MM wide excluding mirrors and 1,718 MM tall, with a substantial 3,210 MM wheelbase.

Width including its exterior mirrors measures 2,157 MM, while kerb weight stands at approximately 2,840 KG.

Up front, the EQS 450 adopts Mercedes-Benz's smooth EQ design language with an enclosed Black Panel grille and continuous lighting treatment.

The standard AMG Line exterior adds a more aggressive front bumper with larger corner intakes, integrated air curtains and gloss-black detailing.

The rear features a broad, rounded tailgate with clean body surfacing and a roof-mounted spoiler.

AMG Line-specific lower bumper treatment, chrome detailing and a full-width lighting signature give the large SUV a sportier appearance.

The EQS 450 is equipped with DIGITAL LIGHT LED headlamps with projection functionality.

Also included are LED daytime running lights, automatic illumination, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, dynamic indicators and welcome and leaving lighting sequences.

Full-width LED tail lamps span the rear of the EQS SUV.

Their distinctive three-dimensional helix graphics create a recognisable lighting signature, complemented by dynamic indicators and a spoiler-integrated high-mounted brake lamp.

The exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable and automatically folding.

They also feature integrated dynamic turn signals, Blind Spot Assist indicators and automatic dimming as part of the Mirror Package.

The EQS 450 uses ventilated disc brakes at both the front and rear.

An Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold is standard, while regenerative braking recovers kinetic energy and returns it to the high-voltage battery during deceleration.

The Malaysian EQS 450 rides on 22-INCH AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in high-gloss black with high-sheen surfaces.

They are wrapped in 275/40 R22 tyres at both axles.

Active safety equipment includes Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control and Hill Start Assist.

Also provided are Autonomous Emergency Braking, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system with transparent bonnet view.

The EQS 450 features nine airbags, including front, front-side, curtain and driver's knee airbags.

Additional occupant protection includes PRE-SAFE, ISOFIX child-seat mounting points, seat-belt pretensioners and reminders, impact protection structures and acoustic laminated safety glass.

DYNAMIC SELECT provides Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual and Offroad driving programmes.

Several regenerative braking settings are also available, including D+, D, D-, D Auto and coasting functions, allowing the driver to vary deceleration and energy recuperation.

The MBUX Hyperscreen combines a 12.3-INCH driver display, 17.7-INCH OLED central touchscreen and 12.3-INCH OLED passenger display.

Features include MBUX Interior Assistant, augmented-reality navigation, Mercedes me connected services, fingerprint authentication and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rear occupants additionally receive two 11.6-INCH entertainment displays, a removable MBUX rear tablet and wireless headphones.

The Driving Assistance Package Plus includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Stop & Go, Active Steering Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.

Also equipped are Evasive Steering Assist, Blind Spot Assist, PRE-SAFE Impulse Side, lane-departure assistance and comprehensive collision-avoidance functions.

Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and the 360-degree camera provide additional low-speed assistance.

Entertainment is delivered through a 15-speaker Burmester 3D Surround Sound System producing approximately 710 W.

Dolby Atmos support provides a more immersive audio experience throughout the large three-row cabin.

Being fully electric, the EQS 450 uses two permanently excited synchronous electric motors, one positioned at each axle.

Combined output stands at 265 KW (355 HP) and 800 NM.

The electric drivetrain uses a single-speed fixed-ratio automatic transmission.

Power delivery is therefore smooth and immediate without conventional multi-speed gear changes.

The EQS 450 features Mercedes-Benz's fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

Its front and rear electric motors can continuously adjust torque distribution between the two axles according to traction, efficiency and performance requirements.

The EQS 450 4MATIC accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 6.1 seconds.

Maximum speed is electronically limited to 210 KM/H.

As a fully electric vehicle, the EQS 450 consumes no petrol or diesel.

Its 118 KWH NMC battery provides between approximately 594 KM and 673 KM WLTP driving range, making it the longer-range option compared with the more powerful EQS 580.

AC charging is supported at up to 22 KW, enabling a 0-100% recharge in approximately 6 hours 15 minutes.

Maximum 200 KW DC fast charging allows the battery to be replenished from 10-80% in approximately 31 minutes.

Standard conveniences include KEYLESS-GO, an EASY-PACK powered tailgate with HANDS-FREE ACCESS, powered front and second-row Comfort Seats and a panoramic sliding glass roof.

Also provided are rear window sunblinds, wireless smartphone charging, rain-sensing wipers, electrically retractable door handles and extensive Mercedes me connected functions.

The EQS 450 features a THERMOTRONIC five-zone automatic climate-control system with dedicated rear outlets and controls.

The AIR BALANCE and ENERGIZING functions further improve cabin air quality and passenger comfort throughout all three rows.

The chassis combines a four-link front axle and multi-link rear suspension with AIRMATIC air suspension and Adaptive Damping System Plus.

Ground clearance can be raised by up to 25 MM, while the suspension automatically lowers the vehicle at higher speeds to improve stability and aerodynamic efficiency.

Rear-axle steering allows the rear wheels to turn by up to 10 degrees, significantly improving manoeuvrability despite the SUV's 5.1-METRE length.

The EQS 450 features extensive acoustic treatment through its Acoustic Comfort Package.

Heat-, infrared- and noise-insulating laminated glass helps reduce exterior noise, while the inherently smooth electric drivetrain further minimises powertrain vibration and sound.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV is arguably the more range-focused choice in Malaysia's EQS SUV line-up.

Its 355 HP and 800 NM dual-motor drivetrain is considerably less powerful than the EQS 580, but 6.1-second acceleration remains more than sufficient for a large luxury SUV. More importantly, its larger 118 KWH battery provides up to 673 KM WLTP range, while retaining 200 KW DC charging and useful 22 KW AC capability.

It also sacrifices little in equipment, retaining the seven-seat configuration, MBUX Hyperscreen, rear entertainment system, Burmester audio, AIRMATIC suspension, 10-degree rear-wheel steering and comprehensive driver-assistance package.

At RM625,888, it remains expensive, but its lower price and superior range make the EQS 450 the more rational of the two regular EQS SUV variants.
