Zeekr X

Long-awaited and highly-anticipated, Zeekr’s one of two (Zeekr 009) first local offerings, the Zeekr X, officially launched in Malaysia.

A D-segment (compact SUV, crossover) Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), it underpins Geely’s Scalable Electric Architecture 2 (SEA2) platform.

Fully-imported (CBU - China), available via Zeekr Malaysia (VCM) are two variants (Premium - MYR 155,800, Flagship - MYR 172,800).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) cover a vehicle warranty (five years/150,000 KM), an EV battery warranty (eight years/160,000 KM), and connected services (free - two years).

Included is an Early Bird Package (first 500 units - AC home charger, portable charger, solar window film, glass roof sunshade).

Five exterior (dual-tone - roof - Black) colours (Crystal White, Palace Beige, Pine Green, Grid Grey, Mist Grey). 

Two interior (dual-tone - upholstery, panels) colours (Charcoal Black-Stone Grey, Midnight Blue-Polar White).

The all-new Zeekr X has a minimalistic (buttonless) and tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising-floating (armrest, storage) centre console.

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, door panels), it sees two dual-tone (Charcoal Black-Stone Grey, Midnight Blue-Polar White) colour schemes.

Accentuating the layout are contrast trims (Chrome - dash, steering wheel, centre console, door cards), and an ‘Ice Block’ ambient light system (17 colour sets - rhythmic).

Centre-staged are the driver/central displays (instrument cluster/infotainment), and filling-up the space are slim air-conditioning vents (hidden - centre-dash, B-pillars).

Inclusively, the design is very airy and non-cluttered, with accessibilities purposefully-arranged (driver-oriented, user-friendly).

Making-up the ‘Intelligent Cockpit’ (Qualcomm SA8155P Snapdragon Systems-on-Chips - SoC), installed is an 8.8-Inch HD LCD driver display (instrument cluster), with a 24.3-Inch Augmented Reality (AR) Heads-Up Display (HUD - Flagship).

Eco-friendly, the interior sees leather (vegan) upholstery, in two dual-tone (Charcoal Black-Stone Grey, Midnight Blue-Polar White) colour schemes.

Fitted are electronic-powered (driver-six-way, passenger-four-way, four-way-lumbar, ventilation, driver-memory) ergonomic seats (front), and a manual-operated (button - 60:40 split-flat-fold) bench seat (rear).

Included are armrests (front - centre console, rear - centre seat fold-out), panoramic glass sunroof (fixed - dark tint, heat/UV protect), and textile floor mats (Black).

Despite being an e-crossover (compact SUV), the five-seater offers generous cabin space, providing ample interior mobility for the occupants (front, rear).

Sufficient head-, shoulder-, and leg-room.

Mounted is a two-spoke-flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in leather (vegan - dual-tone - interior colour dependent) with contrast trims (Chrome).

Features are multi-function (Bluetooth, Media, Voice Recognition, Vehicle settings), and column adjustments (tilt, telescopic).

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system.

Practical storage areas. E.g., side door/seat back pockets, centre console partitioned/caverned/retractable/under-stowage spaces, a glove box, and a hidden boot space (under-boot floor).

Provided are four cup holders (two - front, rear), and four bottle holders (two - front, rear).

Multiple power outlets. E.g., three USB ports (two - front, one - rear), one 12 V socket (front), and one wireless charger (front).

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L - 3.3 KW) charging function, for powering of external appliances.

Accessing its electronic-powered (contactless - remote/key fob, button, sensor - height adjustment, memory) tailgate, opens up to 362-Litres (rear seats up) and 1,182-Litres (rear seats down) of load capacities. 

The all-new Zeekr X measures at 4,432 MM in length, 1,836 MM in width, 1,566 MM in height, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,750 MM.

Distinctively-electric, it exudes a dynamically-sporty exterior, emphasised by sharply-straight and angularly-rounded contours.

The front-end sees a moulded-bonnet (side-middle-raised, Zeekr X emblem), rounded quarter panels, and a full-faced bumper (corner intakes, lower intake).

Accentuations, body cladding (Black - bumper, fenders, side sills), body trimmings (Black - intakes, side mirrors), a contrast roof (Black - glass), an ‘Intelligent’ B-pillar (right-side - screen - EV charging status/animation - Flagship), and Zeekr X emblem (Chrome).

Cleanly-electrifying, it continues the dynamically-sporty profile, emphasised by sharply-rounded and symmetrically-aligned creases.

The rear-end sees a dipped roofline, a roof-edge spoiler (Black), muscular quarter panels, a middle-tapered tailgate (Zeekr script - illuminated), and a covered bumper (diffuser).

Accentuations, body cladding (Black - bumper, fenders, side sills), body trimmings (Black - diffuser), a contrast roof (Black - glass), D-pillars (dual-tone - Black-body-colour), and Zeekr X emblems (Chrome - Premium, Black-Chrome - Flagship).

Unique, the split (top - DRLs, bottom - main) headlamps are framed slim and elongated. Installed are full LED units.

Features are double-edged LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/cornering, welcome lights, light show, and sequential turn signals.

Futuristically-eco-friendly (lightweight organic glass), the wrap-around tail lamps are framed full-width (lightbar) and slim with pointed outer-edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off, welcome lights, light show, and sequential turn signals. Paired to the setup is a high-mounted stop light (spoiler-integrated).

The side mirrors (frameless - single-tone - Black) are electronic-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with sequential turn signals, and blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection - BSD).

Installed is a set of ventilated (front) and solid (rear) disc brakes. 

Drive is aided by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system, and a regenerative braking (One-Pedal-Drive) system.

Mounted are sets of 18-Inch (Premium) and 19-Inch (Flagship) star-spoke (dual-tone - Black-Silver, Diamond-cut) alloy rims. 

The sets are rubbered-up in 235/55 R18 GitiControl P10 (Premium - front, rear) and 235/50 R19 Continental EcoContact 6 (Flagship - front, rear) tyres.

The all-new Zeekr X gets the following suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Grouped are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Lane Change (ALC), Lane Centring Control (LCC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Emergency Lane Keep Assist (ELKA), Evasive Manoeuvre Assist (EMA), Front Collision Mitigation Support (FCMS), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Front-Rear Cross Traffic Alert (FRCTA), Automated Parking Assist (APA), Parking Emergency Brake (PEB), Around View Monitor (AVM - 360-degree), and Driver Performance Monitor (DPM).

Other systems include Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist System (BAS), Emergency Braking Light Flash (EBLF), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Hill-Descent Control (HDC), Anti-Rolling Program (ARP), Low-Speed Pedestrian Warning Sound (LSPWS), and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Passive safety includes seven airbags (driver-passenger, front sides, driver-knee, front-rear curtains), seatbelts (anchors, reminders, pre-tensioners), ISOFIX (two - outer rear seats), parking sensors (six-front - Flagship, six-front-rear - Premium, Flagship), parking cameras (reverse, 360-degree), door ajar warning, speed limiter, automatic headlamps (On/Off/low-/high-beam, cornering), automatic wipers (rain-sensing, intermittent), automatic-dimming rear-view mirror (frameless - interior), emergency brake signal, automatic door locks (speed-sensing, central-locking), and anti-theft system (alarm, engine immobiliser).

Three main drive modes available (COMFORT, STANDARD, SPORT). Included are two extra modes (CUSTOMISED SPEED, OPTIMISED STOP).

Completing the ‘Intelligent Cockpit’ (Qualcomm SA8155P Snapdragon Systems-on-Chips - SoC), installed is a 14.6-Inch HD central display (infotainment, control unit). 

The system supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (wireless), media, live navigation, Bluetooth, 5G/WiFi/WiFi hotspot, face recognition, voice assistant, mobile app remote control (Zeekr App), app store, and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

Entertainment is channelled via a YAMAHA Surround Stereo premium audio system (13-speakers).

The all-new Zeekr X harbours variant-specific e-powertrains (BEV).

Variant Premium nestles a single-electric motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor - PMSM) setup (rear-mounted), generating 115 KW (154 HP) and 200 NM. 

Variant Flagship fuses a dual-electric motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor - PMSM) setup (front-rear-mounted), generating 315 KW (422 HP) and 543 NM (200 KW, 343 NM - front/115 KW, 200 NM - rear).

Merged to the setup is a single-speed automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels (Premium) and to all four wheels (Flagship), via a Rear-Wheel Drive system and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.

0 to 100 KM/H acceleration is done in 5.6 seconds (Premium) and 3.8 seconds (Flagship). Top speed is electronically-capped at 190 KM/H (Premium, Flagship).

Juicing-up the e-motors (Premium, Flagship) is a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack (69 KWH), providing a pure electric driving range (WLTP) of 440 KM (Premium) and 420 KM (Flagship).

AC charging (Type 2 - 7.2 KW - Premium, 11 KW - Flagship), takes 7.0 hours for a 0% to 100% State of Charge (SoC). DC charging (CCS2 - 150 KW - Premium, Flagship), takes 30 minutes for a 10% to 80% SoC.

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L - 3.3 KW) charging function, for powering of external appliances.

Installed is a dual-zone Electronic Climate Control (ECC). The setup comes with rear air-vents and B-pillar vents.

The suspension setup consists of MacPherson strut (front) and multi-link (rear).

Ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time. The vehicle delivers a connected steering feel, with linear and balanced weighing at all speeds. 

Overall, it is spacious and comfortable, and the ride quality is satisfactory. Safe and suitable for a daily driver.

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. The cabin is serene, with the tyre, road and wind noises mostly hindered. 

The all-new Zeekr X exudes an electrifyingly-modern outlook. Its angularly-sculpted and sharply-seamless body contours just speak electric.

Interior-wise, its shell envelopes a tech-savvy cockpit, featuring advanced connectivity, safety systems and creature comfort features.

Ultimately, the build quality is excellent, and with its distinctive outlook and energising powertrains, the all-new Zeekr X is surely an e-crossover to consider.
