A New MINI Electric Vehicle in The Works, Possibly Called The Aceman?

MINI recently announced its goal of becoming all-electric by the early 2030s, with introducing its final combustion-engined car in 2025. It is unsure how the move will affect the existing line-up, but it is rumoured that MINI may be in the plans of reviving the nameplate from its recent history, according to a recent filing with the German Trademark Office (DPMA). 

A filing was recently done by BMW, MINI’s parent company for the name “Aceman” on April 4, 2021. It is worth noting that MINI once sold a small Paceman crossover, which was a two-door Countryman. It is unsure whether it is a spelling error, or indeed a new MINI model but there are suspicions that it is more leaning to a completely new car.  

As a recap, the MINI discontinued the Paceman several years ago as two-doors SUVs weren't selling well in any market. It is unlikely that the Aceman will be a two-door SUV, but it might be the MINI sedan model that has been rumoured for a while now. 

It is worth mentioning that it is rumoured that MINI is testing a prototype of its next-generation electric vehicle that could be the basis for the Aceman. The Aceman is also expected to be part of the upcoming electric vehicle lineup, as the Cooper SE is currently the only model in that particular roster. We expect that to change sometime in the near future.
