Malaysian BMW M4 Drift Stunt In Thailand Results In RM12,000 Damage Settlements
We have all heard and seen numerous postings of Singaporeans drivers misbehaving when they cross the border into Malaysia however reports of Malaysians drivers misbehaving in Singapore or Thailand are quite a rarity (we do it in our own country).
In the case of one En Abdul Raii Bin Azmi, 32, his decision to show off his “skills” and performance of his BMW M4 landed him into quite a bit of trouble across the border at a tourist spot in Hat Yai, Thailand. On 28 October, Abdul Raii performed the “stunt” at an open air car park in a privately owned popular tourist spot resulting in damages to four vehicles parked nearby.

During the six rounds of drift he performed, rocks on the road surface were flung towards the three tuk-tuks and a car causing them to suffer damages including shattered windows, body and paintwork damage.
According to Lt Col Anuwat Rithichai, the Hat Yai tourist police chief, the four damaged vehicle owners filed a complaint at the Kho Hong police station following which the Thai Police apprehended Abdul Raii at the Thai-Malaysia border check-point when he was attempting to return back to Malaysia accompanied by his wife.
According to the police, Abdul Raii reported that he performed the “drift” at the request of a female staff member at the tourist spot the incident happened in and he sincerely apologises for his action. The incident was settled amicably when an agreement was reached between Abdul Raii and the owners of the four vehicles in the sum of 99,000 Baht (RM12,300) to cover all repair costs.
