Toyota i-ROAD: The Future of Urban Transport

The Toyota i-ROAD Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) combines both security of a car and motorcycle which has been designed to provide greater mobility flexibility in the cities while reducing inner-city congestion and harmful emissions.
Inspired by a skier carving down a slope, the agile EV weighs 300kg and measured at 90cm wide and comes with gull-wing doors, universal sliding seat and joystick control.
More than just a flashy scooter, the i-ROAD is packed with its unique Active Lean Technology. Each time a driver steers into a corner, the system moves the front wheels up and down in the opposite direction.

This is because the EV system integrated with a lean actuator motor, gearing mounted above the front suspension along with rear-wheel steering.
Engine wise, Toyota i-ROAD is powered by lithium-ion batteries that emit no CO2. Its ability to travel approximately 50 kilometres on a single charge at an estimated constant speed of 30 kilometres per hour makes it ideal for zipping around the city on short trips.

The PMV takes up less road space than a motorcycle and is mostly suited for two people. Moving inside, occupants receive a weatherproof cockpit that has a car-like interior as well as comfort features such as heating, lighting, and audio systems.
On top of its expedient seating layout along automated driving functions, the journey is rest assured to be at its highest safety level.
