DC Handal @ Bamboo Hills - Malaysia’s First Dynamic Load-Balanced EV Hub

DC Handal’s Bamboo Hills DCFC facility, Malaysia’s first EV charging site to offer an open payment system, has been upgraded into a full-fledged DC fast-charging hub with the addition of two more DC charging cabinets and an AC charger.
This expansion enhances the facility’s capabilities, bringing the total number of chargers to eight DC fast chargers and one AC charger. The site now houses the initial 200 kW Kempower cabinet powering four 200 kW satellite CCS2 units, a 240 kW Autel cabinet with two nozzles capable of delivering up to 240 kW each, a 120 kW Autel cabinet with two nozzles supporting up to 120 kW each, and a 22 kW Autel AC charger.

A key highlight of this upgrade is the introduction of Malaysia’s first advanced dynamic load-balancing system. This integrates the Autel DC chargers and the AC charger into a unified, intelligent charging network.
This system dynamically distributes power across each dual-nozzle Autel DC cabinet and the entire Autel charging setup, consisting of two DC cabinets and one AC charger, for a total of five nozzle dynamic systems.

By optimising power distribution in real time, the system ensures that each EV plugged in receives the most efficient charging rate possible. Regardless of the varying power capacities of the chargers, the system intelligently allocates available power based on real-time demand (vehicle SOC and numbers plugged in), enhancing efficiency and reducing energy waste.
With this upgrade, DC Handal has also revised its charging rates at Bamboo Hills. DC fast charging is now priced lower at RM1.30 per kWh, while AC charging costs RM0.90 per kWh. As an added incentive, EV users who charge RM10 or more on weekends can present their receipt to the exit security personnel to enjoy after rate parking fee of RM5 instead of the usual RM20 weekend charge.

As usual, DC Handal’s stations accept debit and credit card payments, as well as MyDebit, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and alternate virtual payments via the JomCharge and ChargEV apps.
By implementing grid based dynamic load balancing, DC Handal is taking a significant step forward in ensuring optimal grid utilization, minimising energy waste while delivering consistent and reliable performance.

Now despite all this, we at Carz.com.my do feel there is a need for more AC charging options in locations like Bamboo Hills. That’s because the main draws to this location are its restaurants and function rooms that enable EV users to plug in and leisurely enjoy their outing rather than minding their meal time to move their cars.
