Geely Geome Xingyuan Production Hits 200,000 Units in China

Proton e.MAS 5 twin, the Geely Geome Xingyuan, achieves a 200,000-unit production milestone to become China’s top-selling model.
After a few months into its production, the popular Geely Geome Xingyuan (also known as the Geely Star Wish) has reached a new production milestone of 200,000 units. This comes months after the compact EV hatch reached its 100,000-unit production milestone, which makes the upcoming Proton e.MAS 5 donor model China’s best-selling model so far this year.

Priced between CNY 68,800 and CNY 97,800 (RM40,981–RM58,255), the Xingyuan has been an instant hit amongst Chinese buyers who seek a simple yet usable EV to move around urban areas. In Apr 2025 alone, a total of 36,119 units were delivered in China, thus bringing its year-to-date (YTD) total to 125,334 units.
CarNewsChina reports data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showing that the Xingyuan has managed to outsell its rival, the BYD Seagull, with only 34,005 units sold last month. This achievement also puts the Xingyuan on top of the compact sedan/hatchback category in China.

In China, the Xingyuan comes in two variants, with the entry-level model harnessing a 30.12-kWh LFP battery pack that provides a maximum CLTC range of 310 km, while power is provided by a single electric motor rated at 78 HP (58 kW) and 130 Nm. Meanwhile, the top-spec model gets a larger 40.16-kWh battery providing up to 410 km of CLTC range, plus a peppier single-motor setup rated at 114 HP (85 kW) and 150 Nm.
In terms of sizing, the Geome Xingyuan is actually much larger compared to the BYD Seagull, where it is supposed to compete against the likes of the BYD Dolphin, the Dongfeng Nammi Box, and many more. Spanning 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall, and 2,650 mm wheelbase, the Xingyuan sits between both its Dongfeng and BYD rivals.

The Proton version of the Geely Geome Xingyuan will be known as the Proton e.MAS 5, shown to the public at MAS 2025 earlier this month.
As we mentioned prior, the Geely Geome Xingyuan will be the basis for Proton’s second EV model, the Proton e.MAS 5. The Proton version of the Xingyuan already made its Malaysian public debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025), ahead of its planned debut sometime later in Q4 this year.
