If you’ve stepped onto a Malaysian highway or waited at a traffic light lately, chances are you’ve spotted a sleek Proton e.MAS rolling past!

In just 20 short months since launching the Proton e.MAS 7 in December 2024, Proton’s new-energy sub-brand has hit a monumental milestone: 31,504 total xEV registrations (with over 30,293 registered right here in Malaysia!). That officially makes Proton e.MAS the fastest automotive brand in Malaysian history to achieve this feat!

From conquering the sales charts to building an insane nationwide charging ecosystem, here is how Malaysia’s national brand turned electric dreams into everyday reality.

TL;DR / SUMMARY ⚡ Malaysia's #1 xEV Brand

  • Record-Breaking Milestone: Proton e.MAS achieved 31,504 total registrations in just 20 months, becoming the fastest brand in Malaysia to hit 30,000+ xEVs.

  • Segment Dominance: e.MAS 5 leads as Malaysia's #1 overall EV, e.MAS 7 is the top C-segment EV SUV, and e.MAS 7 PHEV tops plug-in hybrids.

  • Condo Charging Solution: Installed over 1,500 chargers across 600+ condos nationwide, offering app-based charging starting at just RM0.63/kWh.

  • Massive Network: Live Integrated Charging Map covers 4,700+ charging points across 90% of Malaysia, backed by 58 dealerships and 45 service centres.

  • RM37M Local Factory Upgrade: Expanded Tanjung Malim EV plant capacity to 42,000 units annually for local assembly and overseas exports.

1. They Are Dominating EVERY Single xEV Segment

Proton e.MAS isn't just selling well; it's practically running the entire market. According to official data, the brand holds top spots across three major categories:

  • Proton e.MAS 5: Holds the crown as Malaysia's No. 1 EV model overall with 13,279 units delivered.
  • Proton e.MAS 7: Takes best-selling C-segment EV SUV with 12,068 units delivered.
  • Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV: Dominates as Malaysia's No. 1 Plug-In Hybrid with 4,946 units delivered.

In fact, Proton e.MAS surpassed its entire 2025 sales volume within just the first half of 2026!

2. They Solved The "I Live In A Condo" Charging Dilemma

One of the biggest reasons Malaysians hesitate to buy an EV is living in high-rise buildings. Proton e.MAS tackled this head-on by partnering with residential charging providers to install over 1,500 charging points across 600+ condominiums nationwide.

Even better? Condo residents charging through the Proton e.MAS app can enjoy rates starting as low as RM0.63 per kWh, making overnight daily commuting costs significantly cheaper than petrol!

3. Over 4,700 Chargers At Your Fingertips (Bye, Range Anxiety!)

The integrated Proton e.MAS Live Charging Map now lists over 4,700 charging points, covering over 90% of Malaysia. Coupled with a growing physical footprint of 58 dealerships, 45 service centres, and 10 Body & Paint hubs, getting sales support or a quick charge is hassle-free anywhere in the country.

4. They Are Exporting Malaysian-Made EVs Overseas

It's not just a local flex, Proton e.MAS is expanding internationally! Over 1,211 units have already been exported to overseas markets, including the newly introduced Proton e.MAS 5.

To support this massive demand, PROTON invested an additional RM37 million into its dedicated EV manufacturing facility in Tanjung Malim, expanding annual production capacity from 20,000 units to a massive 42,000 units.
