Who Can Fix Your Proton e.MAS Like A Pro? PRO-NET & TVETMARA Certify 37 High-Voltage Techs
One of the biggest lingering doubts Malaysians have about taking the electric plunge is simple: "If something goes wrong under the hood, who actually knows how to fix a high-voltage battery safely?"
PRO-NET (the EV arm behind Proton e.MAS) just took a massive step to erase that anxiety.
In partnership with TVETMARA, PRO-NET officially graduated its first cohort of 37 Level 2 (L2) Certified e.MAS Technicians representing 25 authorized dealerships nationwide. These aren't just standard mechanics, they are specialized high-voltage EV technicians trained to handle complex battery diagnostics and maintenance.
TL;DR: Key Takeaways
- First Cohort Graduated: 37 Level 2 technicians across 25 Proton e.MAS dealerships are now officially certified.
- Rigorously Tested: Technicians completed 7 intensive training modules independently verified by TVETMARA Masjid Tanah.
- Massive Fleet Support: Serves over 30,000 Proton e.MAS drivers across 58 dealerships and 45 service centres nationwide.
- Long-Term Career Path: PRO-NET plans to run annual certifications scaling up to Level 3 (L3) and Level 4 (L4) expertise.
What It Takes To Become A Level 2 EV Specialist
Working on an electric car isn't like changing the engine oil on a petrol car. With high-voltage (HV) battery packs running through the chassis, hands-on safety standards must be rock-solid.
Earning Level 2 certification required participants to complete seven (7) training modules covering essential EV competencies, including specialized High Voltage (HV) system training.
DID YOU KNOW?
EVs run on high-voltage architecture (often 400V to 800V). That’s why technicians require specialized high-voltage insulated gear, rubber safety mats, and certified de-powering protocols before touching internal battery components!
Following technical assessments that validated both their technical knowledge and practical capabilities, the certification programme was independently verified by TVETMARA Masjid Tanah to guarantee every certified technician met strict competency standards.
"The shift towards electric mobility is not only about introducing advanced vehicles, but also about building the capabilities and ecosystem needed to support customers throughout their ownership journey."
— Mr. Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET
Peace Of Mind For 30,000+ e.MAS Drivers
With over 30,000 Proton e.MAS vehicles hitting Malaysian roads as of July 2026, building out aftersales support has become top priority. PRO-NET’s footprint now spans 58 dealerships, 45 service centres, and 10 Body & Paint centres across the country.
This technician milestone ensures that as more Malaysians make the switch, qualified specialists are stationed nearby to handle routine upkeep and technical troubleshooting without delay.
Furthermore, PRO-NET plans to make this an annual development program, opening pathways for local technicians to advance to Level 3 (L3) and Level 4 (L4) master certification. Combined with 391 employees currently supporting local assembly at the PROTON EV Plant in Tanjong Malim, local automotive talent is officially leveling up.
