The BYD Atto 2 is a compact fully electric SUV positioned between the Dolphin and Atto 3 in BYD Malaysia’s line-up. The Malaysian model continues into 2026 in a single Premium variant priced at RM100,000.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 130 KW (174 HP) and 290 NM, paired with a 51.13 KWH BYD Blade Battery. It offers up to 410 KM NEDC or approximately 350 KM WLTP range and accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 7.9 seconds.

The dashboard adopts a cleaner and more conventional design than the distinctive gym-inspired cabin of the larger Atto 3.

A floating 12.8-INCH electrically rotating touchscreen occupies the centre of the dashboard, while an 8.8-INCH digital instrument display sits directly ahead of the driver.

The right-hand-drive Malaysian Atto 2 uses a column-mounted drive selector, freeing up additional space around the centre console.

A row of physical controls provides quick access to drive functions, hazard lights, Auto Hold, wireless charging, front demisting and audio volume, while a 50 W wireless charging pad sits beneath the touchscreen.

An 8.8-INCH LCD digital instrument panel displays essential information including speed, remaining range, battery status and driver-assistance functions.

A 12.8-INCH Intelligent Rotating Touch Screen serves as the main infotainment interface.

It supports FM radio, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an English-language voice assistant.

Its driver-assistance suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

The Malaysian Atto 2 does not feature dedicated rear air-conditioning vents.

Rear occupants therefore rely on airflow from the front-mounted automatic climate-control system.

The Atto 2 uses MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion-beam rear setup.

Combined with its relatively tall 215/60 R17 tyres and urban-focused chassis tuning, the suspension prioritises ease of use and everyday ride comfort rather than outright sporting performance.

The absence of a combustion engine keeps low-speed drivetrain noise and vibration to a minimum.

No dedicated acoustic glazing or active noise-cancellation technology is listed in the Malaysian specification, although the inherently quiet EV powertrain contributes to a calm cabin during urban driving.

Its biggest strengths are equipment: ventilated powered front seats, a 12.8-INCH rotating touchscreen, eight-speaker audio, 50 W wireless charging, 360-degree cameras and a comprehensive ADAS package are all standard at RM100,000.

The relatively modest 82 KW DC charging speed and absence of rear air vents are noticeable compromises, but for primarily urban use the Atto 2 remains one of BYD Malaysia’s most accessible and comprehensively equipped electric SUVs.
