The new BYD Seal is a fully electric four-door sports sedan offered in Malaysia in two variants – Premium and Performance.

Both variants use an 82.56 KWH BYD Blade Battery, with the Premium featuring a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup while the Performance adds a second motor for all-wheel drive.

The Premium produces 230 KW and 360 NM, while the Performance delivers a combined 390 KW and 670 NM. Maximum NEDC driving range stands at 650 KM and 580 KM respectively.

The cabin features a layered and driver-oriented dashboard incorporating BYD's flowing Ocean-inspired styling.

A 10.25-INCH LCD instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, while a large rotating infotainment display dominates the centre of the dashboard.

Instrumentation is displayed through a 10.25-INCH LCD instrument cluster positioned directly ahead of the driver.

A windscreen-projected Head-Up Display is additionally provided on both variants.

Five seats are provided, finished in leather-wrapped upholstery.

Both front sports seats feature electric adjustment, heating and ventilation, while the driver's seat additionally receives four-way powered lumbar adjustment and position memory.

A courtesy seat function is also included.

Thanks to its 2,920 MM wheelbase and dedicated EV architecture, the Seal provides generous front and rear passenger accommodation.

Its flat EV packaging also allows for usable storage areas throughout the cabin as well as luggage compartments at both ends of the vehicle.

A genuine leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel is equipped.

Mounted controls provide access to audio, phone, Adaptive Cruise Control and Multi-Function Display settings.

Cabin storage includes a centre console compartment, door pockets and other smaller storage areas throughout the interior.

A sunglass holder is also provided overhead.

Front occupants receive height-adjustable cup holders within the centre console.

Rear passengers are provided with additional cup holders integrated into the fold-down centre armrest.

Device charging provisions include two wireless smartphone charging pads.

Physical connections comprise one USB-C and one USB-A port at the front, plus one USB-C and one USB-A connection for rear occupants.

A 12 V accessory socket is also included.

Rear luggage capacity stands at 400 L.

An additional front luggage compartment is provided, measuring 53 L for the Premium and 53 L for the Performance.

The new Seal measures 4,800 MM in length, 1,875 MM in width and 1,460 MM in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,920 MM.

Kerb weight stands at 2,055 KG for the Premium and 2,185 KG for the Performance, while minimum ground clearance measures 149 MM and 145 MM respectively.

Front and rear tracks measure 1,620 MM and 1,625 MM, while its minimum turning radius is 5.7 M.

Up front, the Seal adopts BYD's Ocean Aesthetics styling with a low nose, smooth closed-off fascia and distinctive X-shaped design treatment.

Its sculpted bonnet and low-set lighting elements emphasise the sedan's sporty and aerodynamic character.

The rear adopts a wide and streamlined design, complemented by a full-width lighting treatment and an integrated rear windscreen-mounted antenna.

An electrically operated one-touch tailgate is equipped as standard.

Lighting is provided by LED headlamps featuring BYD's distinctive twin U-shaped light cluster design.

Also equipped are automatic headlamp functions, High Beam Assist, LED daytime running lights and a Follow Me Home function.

At the rear, the Seal features LED combination tail lamps linked visually across the width of the vehicle.

It also receives sequential rear indicators, an LED centre high-mounted stop lamp and LED rear fog lamp.

Exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable, heated and retractable.

Also featured are automatic tilt when reversing and position memory functions, while Blind Spot Detection warnings are integrated into the mirror area.

Both variants use ventilated and drilled front disc brakes with ventilated rear discs.

The Premium receives conventional fixed front brake calipers, while the Performance distinguishes itself with red-coloured fixed front brake calipers.

Both Seal variants ride on 19-INCH alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 R19 tyres.

The Performance further receives red brake calipers for a sportier appearance.

Active safety systems include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.

Also standard are Intelligent Power Brake, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold and direct Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The Seal features front airbags for the driver and passenger, front side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, a driver's far-side airbag and rear side airbags.

ISOFIX child-seat mounting points, seat-belt reminders and front and rear seat-belt pretensioners are also equipped.

Multiple selectable drive modes are provided to alter the vehicle's throttle and drivetrain characteristics according to driving conditions.

The Performance's dual-motor AWD system additionally works with Intelligent Torque Adaption Control for improved traction and power distribution.

Infotainment centres around a 15.6-INCH electrically rotating touchscreen.

It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio, satellite navigation, voice control and music streaming.

Audio is delivered through a 12-speaker Dynaudio premium sound system.

The system is integrated with the central infotainment display and supports Bluetooth and smartphone-based media streaming.

As a battery-electric vehicle, the Seal does not use a conventional combustion engine.

The Premium uses a rear-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 230 KW and 360 NM.

The Performance adds a front induction asynchronous motor to the same 230 KW rear motor, producing a combined 390 KW and 670 NM.

Both variants use a single-speed reduction transmission typical of battery-electric vehicles, delivering power directly from the electric motor to the driven wheels.

The Premium is rear-wheel drive with a single rear-mounted electric motor.

Meanwhile, the Performance uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with separate electric motors powering the front and rear axles.

The Premium accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 5.9 seconds.

With 390 KW and 670 NM available, the Performance completes the same sprint in just 3.8 seconds.

Being fully electric, the Seal does not consume petrol or diesel.

Both variants use an 82.56 KWH BYD Blade Battery. The Premium delivers up to 650 KM NEDC or 570 KM WLTP, while the Performance offers 580 KM NEDC or 520 KM WLTP.

AC charging is supported at up to 7 KW via Type 2, while CCS2 DC charging supports up to 150 KW. Vehicle-to-Load functionality is also equipped.

Convenience equipment includes keyless entry and start, NFC key card and BYD Digital Key with NFC and Bluetooth connectivity.

Also featured are electronic hidden door handles, electrically operated windows with anti-trap protection, one-touch tailgate operation, a panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade and an automatic anti-dazzle rear-view mirror.

Dual-zone automatic climate control with heat pump, PM2.5 filtration and a negative-ion air purifier are also standard.

The Seal uses double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear setup.

The Premium features Frequency Selective Damping shock absorbers, while the Performance receives the BYD DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System for continuously variable damping adjustment.

This allows the Performance to better balance handling stability and ride comfort according to road conditions.

Soundproof double-glazed glass is used for the windscreen and front doors to reduce exterior and road noise entering the cabin.

The inherently quiet electric drivetrain further contributes to a refined cabin environment.
