Next Generation Maserati Quattroporte Will Be An EV-Only GT

The influx of EV saloons in today’s market has overshadowed its fossil-fuelled counterparts. Joining the EV bandwagon is Maserati and, besides its recently unveiled Folgore versions of its new generation GranTurismo and GranCabrio, the trident marque’s Quattroporte flagship saloon is reportedly next.

According to a recent report published by Autocar UK, the next generation Maserati Quattroporte is set to arrive in 2024 solely as an all-electric Grand Tourer (GT). In other words, the next-gen Quattroporte will usher in a new electrified era for the famed Italian trident marque.

Sitting between the Levante SUV and aforementioned GranTurismo, the 2024 Quattroporte will be Maserati’s sole saloon as the smaller Maserati Ghibli will cease production in 2024. This puts the new Quattroporte in the luxury executive saloon segment where it’s poised to compete against the likes of BMW i7 and Mercedes-Benz EQE, just to name a few.

Said report further suggests that the new Quattroporte will underpin the same platform as the new GranTurismo line-up, including the GranTurismo Folgore EV. Designed with an optimal weight distribution, said chassis will pack a T-shaped battery layout that sits low and along the centre.

No specific mentions on the Quattroporte’s power output were reported, though the GranTurismo Folgore’s claimed 750 HP and 1,350 NM output figures aren’t out of reach should it share the same platform, if not slightly lower. In addition, the platform’s 93-kWh battery pack should also grant at least 450 KM of travel too.

In terms of styling, Autocar’s report included its very own render of the upcoming Quattroporte that sport similar design elements as the new GranTurismo coupe that it will supposedly underpin. The four-door grand tourer rendered features similar headlights and taillights design as the aforementioned coupe, essentially making it a GranTurismo saloon.

Lastly, the 20224 Maserati Quattroporte is poised to go on sale at around £150,000 (RM816,337), after taking accounts of its positioning in the marque’s line-up as well as the £200,000 (RM1,088,450) estimated price tag for the Folgore EV. When it arrives, Maserati’s flagship saloon will be joined by the electric variants of the MC20 and Grecale SUV, completing Maserati’s electrified line-up.
