BAuto Appointed XPeng Motors EV Brand Distributors

Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto), Malaysia's Mazda and Kia distributors, now has exclusive rights to distribute, sell spare parts, and provide after-sales services for XPeng smart electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia.
The distribution rights for Xpeng marque could not have come at a better time. Bermaz recently relinquished their rights over Peugeot in Malaysia to principals Stellantis as they officially entered the country.

This agreement is the result of collaborations with Shenzhen Xiaopeng Motors Supply Chain Management Co Ltd and Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Trading Co, Ltd, both affiliates of XPeng Motors, a manufacturer based in Guangzhou.
BAuto's CEO, Datuk Francis Lee Kok Chuan, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, citing XPeng EVs' status as top-tier smart EVs both in China and globally. Highlighting features such as autonomous driving technology and advanced batteries, he emphasised the appeal of XPeng's Navigation Guided Pilot software, which can navigate major Chinese cities autonomously.

Meanwhile, He Xiaopeng, XPeng's founder and CEO, outlined the company's three-year expansion strategy, focusing on their existing smart EV lineup, which includes the P7i, P5, G9, and the recently launched X9 flagship MPV.
He also emphasised on XPeng doubling down on investing in artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and accessibility, catering to the growing number of tech-savvy middle-class consumers.

Datuk Francis further added, "The addition of this new distributorship will complement BAuto's current EV endeavours, which include the Mazda MX-30 and Kia EV6, fostering positive synergies for all parties involved."
He also stated that onboarding XPeng is consistent with the group's sustainability initiatives, which aim to reduce our environmental impact by introducing a broader range of green vehicles and cutting-edge technologies."

It's good to acknowledge that BAuto is one of the brands in Malaysia who is committed to nurture human capital by offering EV training programs locally and abroad. Moreover, to ensure safety and proficiency in high-risk, high-voltage repair operations, Bermaz Auto has invested over RM 10 million in training equipment and upskilling initiatives.
The Institute of the Motor Industry in the UK has also designated BAuto Training School as an EV Approved Centre, and it is ready to qualify more trainers and technicians to satisfy the rising demand for EVs.
