Proton e.MAS 7 Completes ASEAN Unity Drive 2025, Covers Over 10,000 KM
Earlier today, Proton New Energy Technology (PRO-NET) revealed that its Proton e.MAS 7 EV SUV model completed the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 expedition.
As a refresher, this special expedition was spearheaded by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii). It lasted for a total of 22 days, with organisers touting an incident-free drive too with all drivers reaching home safely.
“Completing over 10,000 kilometres across nine countries without a single battery issue is no small feat,” remarked Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET.

Altogether, the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 expedition saw the Proton e.MAS 7 cover 10,432 KM in distance across nine ASEAN nations over 22 days.
Altogether, the drive covered 10,432 KM in total, traversing through no less than nine ASEAN nations in the process. Though flagged off in Malaysia, the drive actually started further north in the ASEAN region, specifically in Vietnam.
After which, the convoy found itself driving across neighbouring Laos, Cambodia and Thailand before shifting to East Malaysia (Sarawak and Sabah), Brunei, Indonesia, as well as Singapore before making its return journey.
According to PRO-NET, the e.MAS 7 demonstrated exceptional reliability, endurance and, critically, battery safety, in this expedition. This, in turn, arguably solidifies the e.MAS 7’s position as Malaysia’s leading EV, and as a benchmark for e-mobility in the region.

Adding to this expedition's challenges for the e.MAS 7 were the distance between charging stations, as well as varied road conditions and terrains.
Part of this expedition’s challenges was charging the e.MAS 7 EV. This was due to the fact that some parts of the drive saw the distance between EV charging points exceeding comfortable and safe parameters.
Adding further to this challenge were some of the challenging terrains and road conditions, especially in both Laos and Cambodia.
In fact, there was an instance where drive participants had no choice but to deploy the portable AC charger unit they brought. One such instance saw participants doing so at a roadside coffee shop.
The same challenges arose later when the expedition traversed across both East Malaysia and Brunei. Otherwise, in regions where EV charging points were abundant, drive participants used local apps and search engines to locate charging stations.

Despite the challenges highlighted, the Proton e.MAS 7 still completed the arduous journey, and with no issues related to its battery too.
From Pakse to Putrajaya, the Proton e.MAS 7 continues to reflect Malaysia’s ambition, resilience, and leadership in shaping tomorrow’s mobility, touts PRO-NET.
“Everyone who has ever worked on the Proton e.MAS 7 project can be proud of this achievement. This journey belongs to all of us,” adds PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang further.
