Geely Xingyuan Crowns as China’s Best-Selling NEV in 2025

Proton e.MAS 5’s donor model, the Geely Xingyuan, has been crowned as China’s best-selling NEV in 2025.
Following its success in the first half of 2025, the ever-popular Geely Xingyuan has now been crowned as China’s best-selling passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) for the entire 2025 year.
This compact EV hatch, which also serves as the donor model for Malaysia’s most affordable EV, the Proton e.MAS 5, has piped down close rivals such as the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV in second place and the Tesla Model Y in third for the coveted title, with a total of 465,775 units sold in 2025 alone.

Besides the top-ranked Geely Xingyuan, another Geely model that made it into the top-20 list is the Geely Galaxy Panda, with the kei car-style EV taking the sixteenth place with 162,098 units.

Back to the Xingyuan, this top-selling EV hatch retails from CNY 69,800 (RM40,639) onwards locally, making it one of the most affordable NEVs on sale in China. Two powertrain specs are available for the Chinese market, with the top-spec model featuring a more powerful RWD motor setup rated at 114 hp (85 kW) and 150 Nm, while its 40.16 kWh battery pack is good for up to 410 km of CLTC range.
